July/August 2010, RWO Rock It!
RWO Rock It!
Hello everyone! There's been a short break in RWO Rock It, but I will be out in full force beginning in July to bring you interviews with bands, pics and more. This section of the magazine is to help expose and promote bands who are trying to make it in music world and some just for fun.
Let’s begin with Rides and Rods, an event that benefited the Fisher House Foundation. I hope most of our readers had the opportunity to come and check out the show and bands. This event was hosted by The American Guardians MC and took place at the Centre Hall American Legion. The Coordinator of this event was our very own Crystal G., owner of Ride Wide Open the Magazine. I was excited when she asked the assistance of Bands Music and everything else in between… to help with coordinating the bands, which is me, Your RWO Rock It reporter. The event was a huge success and needless to say you if you didn’t make it out, you sure did miss out on a good time and a chance to hear true talent.
The Band line-up for Rides & Rods was Big Daddy Bangers from Clinton County, Shiver from Centre County, Nite Kast from Blair County, and G211 from Centre County. Due to Mother Nature, G211 was unable to perform but we will get them next time! What a line-up! Where else in this area would you be able to see and rock out with multiple bands from 3 different counties? Special thanks to GP Audio for providing the sound and stage and Party Player Entertainment for providing us with DJ and music between sets. They were all absolutely awesome. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail about the bands because I will be conducting personal interviews with them and sneak into a few of their bands practices to see what goes on behind the scenes. Until that time I will however provide you with some pics of the bands for your viewing pleasure. You can check out the full story in this issue under the Event Spotlight Section.
Calling all drummers! I received an email recently from Custom Drum Sticks stating they are now offering auto delivery on your customized sticks. You choose your own measurements to make the perfect stick for you. How awesome is that? Grab a few extras so you have them to throw out into the crowd. Website: http://www.customdrumsticks.biz
I would also like to spread the word about the Lock Haven Summer Concert Series. Each Sunday, local area bands perform for free on the floating stage. Last time I attended one of these they passed a container around for donations to help keep this going. It’s an awesome time especially if you like water and music. The stage is attached to the dock and all the local boaters line up behind them tooting their horns and just having a blast party to the music, and there is plenty of seating on the bleachers in the front of the band too. It usually begins around 6pm and goes to approximately 6:30-9pm, weather permitting. It always gives me a tranquil feeling with the combination of water, boats, and live music. And, you can always catch the sunset too! So if you’re looking for something to do, check out the website, http://www.lockhavencity.org, and see who is playing and head on down. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday evening.
For the bands who are serious about making it in the music world and want a chance of getting some great exposure; Kiss is touring and is conducting a search for an opening band in the areas they are playing. How does it work? Simply have your fans vote for you on the website, http://www.kissonline.com/index/home/. The bands with the most votes will be considered. Kiss will review them and make a decision. Update: It may be too late to add your band to this contest but log on to see which band had the most votes for the area closest to you!
Attention: Brett Michael fans! Guess what? Brett Michaels is scheduled to play at the Clearfield County Fair this Summer on Friday, Aug 6th. That hot bod and long hair with all his moves is coming to entertain you. There was a suspension on ticket sales but as of today they are on sale. I just visited the site to get that confirmation. I also discovered that ZZ Top will be performing as well, on Wednesday, Aug 4th. You can find out more information and order tickets online at the Clearfield County Fair Website for further information at http://www.clearfieldcountyfair.com/ticket-sales/
