WMRCP - Women Motorcycle Riders of Central PA
Women Motorcycle Riders of Central PA (WMRCP) was founded in Oct 2008. The group was established as a way to network with other female motorcycle riders and consists of a wide variety of ladies. We have professional riders who race and others that perform stunts, although the majority of our members are productive professionals in various fields in our community. Most of our members are just everyday people who share the joy of riding. It doesn't matter how old you are; our members range in age from 18 to 60ish.
It's amazing on how the number of female riders continues to grow throughout the years. Whenever I started to ride 13 years ago there were only a handful. I was always outnumbered by the boys. Don't get me wrong boys are great, but sometime you just need some girl time. That was the main reason for starting WMRCP. Currently we have around 150 members, and we do have a few male members too; I didn't want to be accused of being sexist. I did warn a few men that if they wanted to join they would have to do a bikini bike wash in a Speedo. I'm not sure why guys would want to join a girls riding group though.
It doesn't matter what kind of bike that you ride. Whether it's a sport bike or a cruiser a Honda or Harley it doesn't matter. Our members' riding skills vary. We have brand new riders, along with novice to intermediate and advanced. We want to mentor new riders to help them build their confidence along with safe road skills.
Women Motorcycle Riders of Central PA has and will continue to give back to the community through various events and benefits. Last year we were able to help the Centre County Women's Resource Center, helped to raise money for an injured biker, and we helped raise money to pay for a funeral. This year we are doing a benefit for our local SPCA on July 24. Our group tries to promote other groups benefits and events also. If
you are interested in joining WMRCP or know of someone who would like to join please contact us. If you have any questions feel free to contact us on Facebook or email Sherry at sweetharleychick@comcast.net.
